Centipedes

Centipedes are creepy-looking creatures known for their long bodies and numerous legs. They are aggressive hunters and can quickly make your life at home miserable if not properly treated.

Characteristics:

Centipedes, also known as hundred-leggers, have elongated and fattened bodies with one pair of legs per body segment. Their last legs are extended, allowing them to move rapidly, and they have the tendency to bite.

Harborage:

Centipedes are typically found in damp and dark places such as under stones, leaf mulch, or logs. They can also be found in areas of the home where insects are present, such as basements, closets, or bathrooms. During the day, they hide in dark cracks and crevices, only coming out at night to search for insects to feed on.

Millipedes

Millipedes, also known as "thousand-leggers," are less common insects that can make homeowners uncomfortable when found on their property. Unlike centipedes, millipedes do not bite or sting, but they can be a nuisance and can infest areas if not properly treated.

Millipedes are easily identifiable by their two pairs of legs per body segment, except for the first three segments that have one pair each. They are usually dark brown in color and measure approximately 1/2–6 1/2 inches in length. When they die, they often curl into a spiral shape due to their hard outer skin.

These pests typically live in cool and damp places such as under stones, leaf mold, mulch, compost heaps, piles of grass clippings, and brick pathways. However, they may become restless and migrate from their natural habitats at certain times of the year, appearing in window wells, basements, garages, and other areas where they can be a nuisance.

To effectively treat millipedes, it is important to disrupt and remove their preferred damp and soil-centric environments. Our experts focus on crack, crevice, and spot treatments in areas with high moisture and decaying organic matter, such as mulch. Additionally, we utilize specialized pesticides designed for lawn and soil applications to prevent infestations.

At our company, we take a tailored approach to millipede treatment, ensuring that your specific concerns are addressed and your home is protected both inside and out. Our goal is to provide you with peace of mind and ensure that you can enjoy your home without the presence of these pests.
