Beetles

Grain Beetles are a nightmare for your pantry as they attack food sources such as cereals, flour, breakfast foods, sugar, dried pasta, rice, and fruit. They are particularly attracted to food that has been stored for long periods of time and remains undisturbed. If left untreated, these pests can quickly ruin your food storage.

The adult grain beetles are brown and measure about 1/8 inch (2.5mm) in length. They have flat and narrow bodies, which allows them to easily enter cracks in storage areas or packaged materials. The thorax, the middle section of their body, is equipped with saw-like projections on each side. Although they have fully developed wings, grain beetles rarely fly. The larva of the grain beetle is worm-like, yellowish-white in color, and has a black head. A mature larva measures about 1/8 inch in size.

Grain beetles typically make their homes in pantries, basements, and any area with food storage. They are more likely to infest and consume food that is less frequently accessed by humans.
