Indian Meal Moths

The Indian meal Moth is a highly invasive pantry pest that poses a significant threat to stored grains, cereals, and fruits. These moths are known to chew through cardboard and other storage containers in order to access food resources, causing extensive damage and contamination. They are capable of spreading quickly, making infestations particularly devastating in homes.

Indianmeal Moths measure about ½ inch in length, with a wing span of approximately ⅝ inch. Their forewings are reddish brown with a copper sheen on the outer two-thirds and gray on the inner third. When at rest, their wings are held roof-like over their body. The head and thorax of the moth appear gray, while the posterior is brown with a coppery sheen.

Although Indianmeal Moths are more commonly found in tropical areas like Florida, they can make a home wherever there is a food source. They are typically found in pantries, food storage areas, and basements, and they are persistent pests.

When it comes to treating Indianmeal Moths, the most effective method is to remove and discard any infested food sources. While some treatment methods using products can have an impact on these moths, our experts prioritize the removal of infested items from your pantry or food storage area. We take extra care to locate the sources of the pests and ensure that all signs of infestation are eliminated.
